COURSE OVERVIEW:

 

The Banksman for Vehicle & Machinery Safety Course is designed to equip workers with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely direct, guide, and control the movement of vehicles and machinery in the workplace. Vehicle & machinery related incidents remain one of the leading causes of workplace injuries in Singapore’s construction, logistics, manufacturing, marine, and industrial sectors. A competent banksman plays a critical role in preventing collisions, protecting pedestrians, and ensuring safe traffic management within work environments.

 

This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of vehicle & machinery movement hazards, blind spots, communication techniques, and recognised hand signals used to coordinate with drivers and equipment operators. Through practical demonstrations and workplace scenarios, participants will learn how to effectively manage vehicle movements, establish safe work zones, and implement control measures to reduce the risk of accidents.

 

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to perform the duties of a banksman confidently and contribute to a safer workplace.

 COURSE OUTLINE

1.     Legal responsibilities under WSH Act.

2.     Identification and mitigation of vehicle & machinery related hazards.

3.     Effective use of standard hand signal.

4.     Communication protocols with vehicle operators.

5.   Safe pre-, during-, and post-movement procedures.

6.   PPE usage and dynamic risk assessment practices.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

 To register for this course, learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:

1.     Basic knowledge of safety,

2.     Be able to listen speak, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the
Employability Skills (ES) Level 2,

3.     Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to the (ES) Level 2,

4.     Be medically fit.
